kitchen hours
recently, sharing economy has become a trending social business model in hong kong to boost economy through sharing of manpower and resources and to effectively utilise idle resources "sharing kitchen" is a food production platform that shares idle kitchens with restaurants to create dishes with a home-made taste the founder dodo is a social worker he hopes the platform of sharing kitchen can provide grass-roots women
the opportunity to run small food businesses i used to serve in the communities of tin shui wai and tung chung with my colleagues there were always neighbours telling us that they could cook a lot of dishes but they had no chance to sell their dishes legally this sparked off the idea of creating a platform to unleash their capabilities this is how sharing kitchen began
this tastes pretty good it is not something you can find in the market yes! even the thai restaurant owner loves it ying is a grass-roots woman who is enthusiastic in cooking joining sharing kitchen as a home chef provides her an opportunity to showcase her culinary skills i have made pastries
and fruit tea to share with neighbours some young men suggested to sell them i told them to receive orders i would cook for them if they could get orders then i got to know sharing kitchen to link me up with restaurants however, to put this concept into practice
was not an easy task in the beginning sharing kitchen did not start very smoothly thanks to sie fund which provided us a seed fund to start the project of sharing kitchen with the funding sharing kitchen had to take a step further to look for suitable collaborators restaurants in their off-hours
and their idle kitchens to sharing kitchen provide the best platform for home chefs of sharing kitchen to showcase their talents sharing kitchen is an innovative concept we contacted many restaurants when we first started eventually six restaurants were willing to work with us we want restaurants owners to believe in our concept which also means to believe in our organisation so that we can realise the sharing of kitchens
and support grass-roots neighbours at the same time i plant most of the ingredients such as these roselle flowers i planted pandan leaves too we have to cool down the tea first it is too hot to pour into the bottles as the owners of the restaurant che and jay both think that sharing kitchen has a meaningful mission the collaboration is not only beneficial to the business
but also to grass-roots women their culinary skills are really impressive to us in fact, for the development our restaurant we need different kinds of new products as well such as these kinds of herbal tea have boosted our sales we believe that we have the same mission to help them earn more income to bring them back to the community and to improve their living standards
with our space and support we can already help them to achieve their dreams i knew that this platform is unleashing their capabilities but i have never thought that this also relates to the way they perceive their lives and enables them to pursue their dreams outside their families through this platform they can put their skills into practice and bring this sense of achievement back to their fellow neighbours and siblings
sharing kitchen has become a cradle of their dreams we hope the project can be successful and more restaurants will be willing to share their spaces with sharing kitchen of course i am happy to have people appreciating and buying my products the better sharing kitchen is doing the more i will be benefited as a part of it i also hope my fruit tea can be widely sold
